As Every Day Could be Your Last

As people say, you only live once (also known as YOLO), leading to two ways of looking at the meaning: you only live once so you must stay safe and make smart decisions, or you only live once so take loads of risks so you don’t miss out on anything life has to offer. If you think YOLO means the first definition given above, then you desperately need to read this article. If you already agree that YOLO means to take crazy risks, still read this article, because you might not be living life to the fullest, even though you think you are. Here are some steps to living the best life ever.

“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.” – Mark Twain

  • Only the present

The past is the past, so learn from it, don’t live in it. Concentrate on the present, not the past or the future, because this will slow you down. Live in the present.

  • Haters gonna hate

Ignore the haters. There will always be haters, no matter how perfect you are, but if you let them get to you, then you have failed. Push through your failures.

  • Kids just wanna have fun

There’s nothing wrong with acting like a kid now and then. Being an adult or acting mature can get boring some times. Be a bit silly, have some fun.

  • Adventure time

Go exploring into nature—into wilderness. It’s great to be reminded that there is more to life than internet and wealth. Get some fresh air and be blown away by amazing views.

  • Feel the burn

Not only is exercising great for health, but it relieves you. Working out makes you look at life in a more positive way. Yoga and meditation is also good. Don’t forget to add some music to your workout.

  • Don’t pull back

Have a way of healthy eating, but every now and then have a little taste of your favourite food, even if it is a big chocolate bar. Don’t have too much though, yet have enough to satisfy you.

  • Get artsy

This could be painting, drawing, reading, writing, singing, or anything that makes you feel relaxed and inspired.

  • Organise getaways

Have a little escape from your day to day life. Go on an adventure, or travel to somewhere where there is nothing but tranquility. Sometimes a weekend is enough to relieve you from some stress.

  • Unplug

Put away your electronics or use them less. Constant use of technology can overwhelm you. Try living a couple days without this distraction (or at least with it minimised).

  • Challenge yourself

Go a day without internet, running 10K, asking someone out, dieting, and so on. Set your goals high, but not out of reach, and challenge yourself everyday.

  • Be kind

You will surely feel better about yourself if you are good. Remember, what goes around comes around.

  • Open your ears

Listening to music you love lightens you up and can easily change your mood into hyper and happy. Music will help you relax and get lost in your thoughts. Moreover, think of a more figurative meaning to this phrase: listen to the words of others and be attentive to your surroundings.

  • Get a life

Spend your days being social, spend your time with friends, spend your time with your boyfriend/girlfriend, and just interact with people. This will make you feel happy and not alone.

  • Be positive

There are different ways to approach life. If you are constantly negative you will clearly have an unhealthy and depressive life. Being positive not only makes you feel better about yourself, but it also causes less stress and is a healthy way to live.

  • YOLO

    You only live once.

Remember that you only live once, and life isn’t infinite. Everyday could be your last, so live each day to its fullest. Don’t be afraid to take risks, or to set yourself a challenge.

Your time is limited, don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living the result of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinion drown your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition, they somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” – Steve Jobs
